Description & Technical information
Note: The figures retain most of their original decoration.
Similar Chinamen in seated positions dating from the beginning of the 18th century feature in the Porzelankabinett in Schloss Charlottenburg in Berlin, Germany, where the figures are placed on platforms mounted on a wall entirely decorated with chinoiserie figures and porcelain objects.
A chandelier with four very similar seated figures was sold by Ronald Phillips Ltd. to a private collection in Europe, and it is possible that the chandelier and these figures originally formed part of the same suite.
