Description & Technical information

A bowl of circular form on a short foot, with domed cover surmounted by a bud finial, richly decorated with blue and green enamels on a gilt ground, typical of Lucknow minakari work. The finial, resting on a scalloped base is covered in small cartouches in gilt The cover is decorated with floral tendrils and lobed cartouches containing further floral motifs on a blue enamel ground, interspersed with arabesques on a gilt ground. The bowl features gilt floral tendrils against a blue ground. Abstracted palmette bands decorate the foot and the rim of the bowl has a band of small alternating blue and green designs. The insides of the bowl and cover are plain gilt. The form of the dome and the finial is reminiscent of the architecture of Nawabi Lucknow.
