Description & Technical information

As Robert Flynn Johnson has recently written about works such as this by John Langley Howard, ‘These watercolours do not merely record nature but create an atmosphere in which it exists’. Another scholar has noted that ‘Howard’s close-ups of nature opened a vision of the cosmos. At once tiny and vast, intimate and impersonal, the scale and mood of his art implied an endless multiplicity of meanings.’
