Description & Technical information
A George II giltwood border glass mirror. The mirror retains the original 18th century mirror plates.
Neither a designer nor a drawing for this unusual mirror has so far come to light. The quality of the carved elements suggests an experienced and perhaps metropolitan workshop. There are similarities to work by Matthias Lock and by John Vardy, both of whom worked around this time.
