Charles X Cut-Crystal and Gilt Bronze Perfume Cellaret.
A perfume cabinet in blown and cut milky opaline glass, mounted in gilt and patinated bronze, containing six bottles with removable stoppers. All the bottles are cut in a "bamboo" style, and their necks are set with a gilt bronze ring. The base of this fragrance cabinet is decorated with a frieze of floral bouquets emerging from hydrangeas, as well as floral garlands. Six square compartments on the base hold the bottles, providing greater stability during transport. The base rests on four lion's paw feet and has a twisted patinated bronze handle.
The interplay of bronze braiding and burnishing, along with the high quality of the crystal work, are characteristic of the production of toilet articles that emerged in the first part of the 19th century during the Restoration period.
Charles X period, circa 1820-1830.
Restorations to the neck and a virtually invisible crack on one neck.
