the wings with multi-coloured enamelling in black, blue, orange, green and iridescent silvery grey, highlighted by cushion cut diamonds and rubies, the head set with a white opal and small cabochon ruby eyes, the thorax with a rose cut diamond and the abdomen formed of an oblong cabochon sapphire, the reverse engraved with wing-markings, mounted in gold testing as 18ct, later brooch fitting, approximately 1.90cts of diamonds
